Another long standing profession all Chartered Surveyors are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) RICS regulates and governs the profession (there are however some Surveyors who operate outside RICS who can be involved in a wide spectrum of work.)

Collateral warranties /duty of care agreements
The good professional Indemnity Insurers will accept claims resulting from sensibly worded agreements, these are generally standard formats which will also relate to most construction based professions including Engineers and Architects. In certain cases the claimant is not actually the insured's client this situation can sometimes occur in design and build jobs, this has led to the inclusion of collateral warranty and duty of care agreements that sit alongside the main contract.

It is clearly of vital importance that you do not agree to contracts of an unreasonable or onerous nature that leaves your practice with little or no protection should something go wrong. Asbestos
Any work relating to asbestos has caused difficulties within the insurance market with most insurers wanting nothing less than total exclusion.
